Readiness to go on to kindergarten is very important. Conferences with each parent and observations by our teachers determines our recommendations for a child’s readiness for kindergarten. The purpose of the extra time in preschool is to allow time for more maturity in the social and emotional areas of development in most cases.

Our program provides for the extra time to grow in these areas. We continue to provide for growth in fine motor skills, reinforcement of upper and lower case letter identification, and letter sounds. The children also are introduced to more advanced topics including: rhyming words, story sequencing, writing stories, and number skills. Themes are presented throughout the school year depending on the interests of the children in the class. We encourage participation in our Enrichment Programs to enhance thier learning.

Children participate in many field trips both in their Pre-K class and Enrichment classes throughout the year. Weekly music and creative movement continue to support the other classroom activities.

Parents continue their monthly meetings with the director and/or teacher to discuss appropriate topics related to this age, as well as other topics of interest. They continue to also participate in holiday related activities with their child.
