Readiness to go on to kindergarten is very important. Conferences with each parent and observations by our teachers determine our recommendations for a child’s readiness for kindergarten. The purpose of the extra time in preschool is to allow time for more maturity in the social and emotional areas of development in most cases. At CCK, our TK program provides for the extra time to grow in these areas.
We continue to provide for growth in fine motor skills, reinforcement of upper and lower case letter identification, and letter sounds. The children are introduced to more advanced topics including: rhyming words, story sequencing, writing stories, and number skills. Children participate in many field trips throughout the year. Our program is enriched with in-depth themes that fascinate children – The Human Body, Countries Around the World and Animals in Nature. Weekly music and yoga continue to support the other classroom activities. Extended hours are available.
